Shawnee Griscowsky

I am Metis with my family roots originating from the Red River. I was born in Treaty 2 Territory and have spent most of my life living in the beautiful Territory of Treaty 7.

I’m a 4th year midwifery student, studying at Mount Royal University and I am so excited to spend the next year with Kimberley and the amazing midwives at Aurora.

I started on the road to becoming a midwife late in life, but my passion for birth started at an early age. Birth, re-birth, the start of something new, connecting to the land and nature and what the birthing body is capable of, inspires me everyday.

Raising four kids has taught me a lot about patience, perseverance, trust and gratitude and I have brought those values along with me on this incredible journey of learning and practicing the art of midwifery.

I am so very grateful to the clients who allow space for learners and who invite us to share in their most sacred of moments.

In my free time you can find me hanging out with family and friends and enjoying long walks and listening to music. I love gardening (indoors and out!), interior design, crocheting and spending time in the mountains.

I look forward to getting to know you and your families.
