My journey towards midwifery began a few years following the birth of my son. I had never imagined that my experiences with pregnancy and birth would extend beyond that of my own until I witnessed the amazing home birth of a dear friend of mine. My eyes were opened to the supportive, informative, evidence-based care that midwives provide, and I was left wanting to experience more. The idea of assisting women in making autonomous choices during their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum was so inviting. As I researched midwifery in Canada and around the world, it quickly became evident that I had a yearning to support women throughout their birthing experiences.

My search for my own path brought me to Calgary, where I was fortunate enough to be accepted into, and graduate from, the Bachelor of Midwifery program at Mount Royal
University. I have been blessed to have such an incredibly supportive partner, Greg, who through his love and commitment has helped me to accomplish my dream of becoming a midwife. Greg and I have 2 beautiful boys, Larkin (born 2008) and Griffin (born 2020). They bring joy and excitement to our lives and keep us busier than we ever could have imagined.

It is very important to me as a midwife to offer women informed choice. I believe that women deserve the right to know and understand the options they have when it comes to their care in pregnancy, labour, and delivery, and I feel incredibly privileged to be able to support women in making those decisions. I feel very fortunate to be a part of such an intimate and transformative time in women’s lives, and I am beyond excited to work with women and their families throughout their pregnancy, birth and postpartum period. I am thrilled to be a part of the Aurora Midwifery team, and look forward to spending time and getting to know all of the families with whom I will have the pleasure of sharing this special time in their lives.
