My name is Ivy, and I am a Third Year Midwifery student at Mount Royal University. I have known since childhood that supporting people through pregnancy and birth was something that I was meant to do. I completed a Bachelor of Nursing at Mount Royal University in 2012 and have been working as a Registered Nurse ever since, first in pediatrics, and most recently at a Sexual and Reproductive Health Clinic and with the Calgary Sexual Assault Response Team. I became Doula certified in 2014, and through that, began supporting clients through birth, as well as in the postpartum period as a Postpartum Consultant. Over the past few years, I have had the opportunity to work at birth centres in Guatemala, Mongolia, and Indonesia, which have contributed to my love for midwifery care.
When I am not working or studying, I am an avid traveller. I have travelled to forty-five countries and counting and have lived in six of them. My goal is to reach one hundred countries by the time I turn fifty! Opposite to that, while at home you can find me curled up by the fireplace with a good book, and cup of tea. I love photography, coffee shops, finding a good sale, and spending time with my two-year-old niece. I am looking forward to working alongside the midwives at Aurora!
