Erin Hennessy

The calling to midwifery was not a straight line for me. The saying “midwife by midlife” rings very true in my journey. I have always had an intense fascination with pregnancy and birth, it took me many years of listening to my inner voice before I could summon the courage to make my dreams a reality. I grew up in a military family and have spent time living on both coasts of Canada. My family resides in Nova Scotia, but my heart resides where the prairies meets the mountains. I first came to Calgary in 2004 purely on a youthful adventure quest and I have never left.

I have always been a sensitive intuitive soul and my first career drew me to animals. I received my Animal Health Technician Diploma from the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus in 2003 and have been working in emergency/critical care veterinary medicine ever since.

When I decided to pursue a new career path I jumped in with both feet and decided to upgrade my university credits and apply to the Midwifery program at Mount Royal University. I I am most excited to develop relationships with the women and babies in my care. Midwifery has a long history of women helping women, and I am thrilled to join that tradition. When not engrossed in my studies at university I like to spend time in my garden, explore the mountains and enjoy quiet time reading a good book.
