Charlotte Dahle - Midwife

My journey to becoming a Midwife started as a Doula. After graduating from my first degree I worked in the Northwest Territories and found myself much more excited about the hours I was spending with my doula clients than the hours I was spending at my full time job. I quickly realized that I loved being a part of helping women feel informed and supported in their pregnancy and labor. I wanted to know everything I could about birth so that I could help my patients make evidence-based decisions. I got accepted to Midwifery school at UBC and haven’t stopped studying since.

I genuinely love the process of getting to know my clients and their families and building a trusting and safe relationship throughout their care. I believe that birth can be very empowering for women and I think that involving women in their care and respecting their choices is one way I can facilitate their birth being as positive an experience as possible. Breastfeeding support is something I feel very passionate about and I have completed my Lactation Consultant training.

I have always chosen jobs related to health care. My first degree was in Health Information Science, which allowed me to work in a hospital setting with clinicians of all backgrounds. I have done volunteer and work experience as a Fire Fighter, Paramedic, Coroner, Doctor’s Assistant, and Crisis Line Worker. When I am not studying or volunteering, I love to teach aerobics, kiteboard, bake, oil paint, surf and choreograph dance classes.

I feel very privileged to have the opportunity to be a part of your birth story and I look forward to getting to know you and your growing family.

Charlotte is on parental leave with her second baby.
